18:1 Pour Over Guide

what you need

Cheat Sheet
22grams coffee set at medium-fine grind
400 grams or milliliters at 200°F / 93.5°C for brewing
2.5 – 3 minute total brew time
50 gram – 30 second bloom
350 gram 2-2.5 minute pour

Prep your equipment

We brew with an Acaia scale, Kalita’s server, 185 style dripper, and our stainless permanent filter.

Grind 22 grams coffee

We use a medium-fine grind. Our stainless re-usable filter has a faster flow rate than standard paper filters. It is important to use a high quality grinder to lower the quantity of micro fines.

Tare & Set Timer

Bloom

Pour 50 grams of water over the coffee bed. (Be sure to saturate all of the grounds) Allow to rest and bloom for 30 seconds. This allows excess C02 to escape.

Pour

Pour the remaining 350g of water over the next 2.5-3 minutes.

Enjoy!

Enjoy your 18:1 pour over. This is a standard brew recipe. Experiment and make it your own! Try different ratios, brew times, pre-sift coffee grounds, use a Melow Drip…so many possibilities! We will be releasing guides weekly!

Rinse & Repeat

The best part about using Quell’s stainless filters.
